Río Cuarto: asamblea universitaria por la trágica explosión
Se tratarán los riesgos en la Planta Piloto
CORDOBA.- Se advierte que la de hoy será una jornada agitada en la Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto (UNRC): para las 9 está convocado el Consejo Superior de la casa de estudios y, conforme resolvió el viernes pasado una asamblea de docentes y estudiantes, éstos asistirán en masa para participar de la deliberación.
El único tema será la situación relacionada con el accidente ocurrido la semana pasada en la Planta Piloto de la Facultad de Ingeniería, que se ha cobrado dos víctimas mortales, mientras otros heridos y quemados por el incendio de tambores de hexano -un peligroso solvente- se debaten entre la vida y la muerte.
Por otra parte, durante el fin de semana se conoció que el producto había sido enviado por la empresa De Smet SAIC, filial argentina de De Smet-Ballestra, multinacional de origen belga que reconoció en un comunicado que estaba en marcha, pero no firmado oficialmente, un convenio "de cooperación científica y técnica". En la UNRC se iban a efectuar ensayos orientados a lograr más eficiencia en el proceso de la extracción de aceite.
La compañía está especializada en la fabricación de plantas para producir aceites, jabones, detergentes y biodiésel. Es considerada la principal proveedora de todas las industrias aceiteras y de biocombustibles del país. En el comunicado confirma haber remitido 13 tambores con hexano y que debía aportar otros insumos, como aceites y semillas.
Todo se desarrollaba "sin ocultamientos", puntualizó, en respuesta a denuncias de que se trataba de un trabajo "secreto" y a los señalamientos de que la investigación no constaba en ningún convenio con la universidad. El acuerdo se había tramitado vía la Fundación de la casa de estudios y estaba en pleno conocimiento del Decanato de Ingeniería, pero al no haberse suscripto todavía oficialmente no lo habría conocido el rector, Oscar Spada.
La empresa reconoció también que dos de los heridos están vinculados con ella. Se trata de Sebastián Murello, con dependencia laboral de la propia De Smet, y Diego Bonasa, perteneciente a Verdu SA, de Rosario, subcontratista de la compañía belga y dedicada a montajes industriales. Ambos se encuentran internados en Río Cuarto.
De Smet se fundó en 1946 y es proveedora de plantas y equipamientos para el tratamiento de semillas, el refinamiento de aceites y la producción de biodiésel y detergentes.
En las asambleas universitarias algunos participantes sostuvieron que la Planta Piloto no ha sido diseñada para operar más de 100 litros de hexano. En medio de este ambiente caldeado se desenvolverá la reunión de hoy del Consejo Superior.
