Kheyvis, otra fatídica fiesta
Antecedente: hace casi cuatro años, 17 jóvenes murieron en un incendio en una discoteca de Olivos durante un baile de egresados.
Una broma entre estudiantes terminó en la mayor tragedia en una discoteca que se recuerda en nuestro país: el 20 de diciembre de 1993 murieron 17 personas entre las llamas del voraz incendio que arrasó el local Kheyvis, en Olivos. Al igual que ayer en el boliche New YorkCity, aquella madrugada se desarrollaba una fiesta de egresados.
La investigación judicial que siguió al desafortunado episodio pudo determinar que el fuego se inició cuando tres o cuatro jóvenes ebrios apilaron los sillones de goma espuma del sector VIP de la discoteca y los rociaron con el contenido de una petaca de licor Mariposa.
Alcanzó con que -casual o intencionalmente- cayera allí una chispa para que se iniciara el incendio que sólo pudo ser apagado varias horas después.
A casi cuatro años del hecho siguen sin conocerse los nombres de los autores materiales de la catástrofe acaecida en la discoteca situada en Avenida del Libertador al 1900.
Desde un primer momento, la Justicia tuvo en la mira a tres muchachos, de entre 17 y 19 años, que concurrieron esa noche a la fatídica fiesta. Uno de ellos, Nicolás Zunino, fue el único detenido por la causa, pero actualmente se encuentra en libertad.
Sus amigos Juan Manuel Hernández y Gabriel Pérez Novoa fueron investigados por el juez Osvaldo Solimine a raíz de unas escuchas telefónicas que los habrían comprometido. Sin embargo, ninguno de ellos fue detenido.
Se habló de un pacto de silencio, de que muchos de los que concurrieron a la fiesta sabrían quién fue el que prendió fuego los sillones, pero la verdad acerca de lo que pasó esa noche parece haber sido cuidadosamente ocultada.
No era un lugar seguro
Lo que dejó en claro la acción de la Justicia es que el incendio pudo haberse evitado.
Del expediente judicial surge que el local fue habilitado el mismo día en que lo solicitó su dueño, que murió en la tragedia al ingresar en el lugar para rescatar a un adolescente.
Desde que abrió sus puertas hasta el día en que desapareció por la acción de las llamas, Kheyvis nunca recibió a un funcionario municipal que controlara si cumplía o no con las condiciones mínimas de seguridad que la legislación vigente exigía.
El local no era un lugar seguro. No tenía dos salidas de emergencia ni la cantidad de matafuegos reglamentaria. Para colmo, los materiales de construcción y la estructura de la discoteca eran altamente inflamables y la desgraciada noche del 20 de diciembre de 1993 se permitió el ingreso de un número de personas tres veces mayor al permitido.
Tres personas fueron procesadas y se les dictó prisión preventiva por homicidio y lesiones graves, en agosto de 1995.
Uno de los propietarios de la discoteca y dos funcionarios de la Municipalidad de Vicente López, encargados de habilitar el local, fueron hallados partícipes necesarios del hecho, pero por el tipo de delito que se les imputó fueron beneficiados con la excarcelación.
