Uscis: ¿cómo saber si mi caso fue aprobado?
Un peticionario puede verificar el estatus de su trámite por las plataformas digitales del Uscis; no tiene que asistir personalmente a una oficina

El Servicio de Ciudadanía e Inmigración (Uscis, por sus siglas en inglés) tiene una herramienta con la que cualquier persona que tenga un caso pendiente puede comprobar su estatus. A su vez, hay una opción para hacer la revisión en línea al seguir unos cuantos pasos, de acuerdo con el tipo de formulario que se quiera verificar.
“Este proceso es muy sencillo. Usted puede comprobar el estatus de su caso electrónicamente desde la tranquilidad de su hogar u oficina y hasta desde su teléfono móvil”, señala la página oficial de la entidad migratoria. Solo hay que entrar al sistema para Verificar Estatus de Caso e ingresar el número de recibo, que regularmente se le envía al ciudadano extranjero una vez que su formulario de pedido fue enviado.
Al momento de hacer este paso, se deben tomar en cuenta algunas restricciones: “El número de recibo es un identificador único de 13 caracteres que se compone de tres letras y 10 números. Omita los guiones (“-”) al ingresarlo. Sin embargo, puede añadir todos los demás caracteres, incluidos los asteriscos (“*”), si aparecen en su notificación como parte del número de recibo”.
Por otro lado, hay ciertas características del número de recibo que lo hacen único. El Uscis pide a los interesados revisar su estatus para que no haya errores y no reciban información que no corresponde a su proceso: “Las tres letras pueden ser, por ejemplo, EAC, WAC, LIN, SRC, NBC, MSC o IOE. Puede encontrarlo en las notificaciones que Uscis le ha enviado sobre su caso”.
Una vez que esta información se ingrese en el apartado correspondiente, se mostrarán datos como la última acción que se ha tomado en el procesamiento y le informarán al interesado los próximos pasos a seguir, de ser necesario. “Le brindaremos recordatorios útiles para mantener su dirección actualizada y cómo enviar consultas”, afirmó la organización gubernamental. Una persona también puede revisar los detalles acerca del caso de otra, solo al ingresar el número de recibo en una casilla que aparece abajo, con la leyenda: “Provea otro número de recibo”.
Si el extranjero desea mantenerse constantemente informado y no esperar a ingresar al sitio para consultar el estatus por su propia cuenta, puede crear un perfil de MyUscis. Allí recibirá las actualizaciones y acciones más recientes de su pedido: “Es un sistema gratuito y fácil de usar”. Lo único que hay que tener presente es que, para eso, la plataforma usará información personal de cada usuario: “Antes de consultar el estatus de su caso, le instamos a que lea las políticas de privacidad de Uscis”.
Otras funciones de la verificación de status de Uscis
En ese mismo apartado se pueden aprovechar otras herramientas como cambiar la dirección, enviar una consulta sobre su caso, e-Request, obtener un promedio del tiempo de procesamiento para algún trámite o localizar una oficina de Uscis. De igual manera, si aun con esas funciones el usuario tiene dudas, puede consultar a los funcionarios de la entidad migratoria al Centro Nacional de Servicio, a través del teléfono 1-800-375-5283.
