La tormenta tropical Debby toca tierra por segunda vez en EEUU
La tormenta tropical Debby tocó tierra el jueves en Estados Unidos por segunda vez, pocos días después de azotar el sureste del país, donde dejó al menos seis muertos, informó el Centro Nacional de Huracanes (NHC).
"Debby toca tierra cerca de Bulls Bay, en Carolina del Sur", indicó el NHC el jueves. Advirtió de grandes inundaciones en los estados de Carolina del Norte y del Sur, así como el oeste de Virginia.
El ciclón tocó tierra por primera vez el lunes en el estado de Florida como huracán de categoría uno, con vientos de 130 kilómetros por hora.
Posteriormente se debilitó a tormenta tropical.
Al menos 18 personas murieron en julio cuando el poderoso huracán Beryl azotó el Caribe antes de alcanzar los estados de Texas y Luisiana, en el sur de Estados Unidos.
Los científicos afirman que el cambio climático podría incidir en la rápida intensificación de las tormentas debido a que el calentamiento marino los fortalece.
