Murió Willie Garson, actor de “Sex and the City”, tras luchar contra un cáncer

El actor Willie Garson murió este martes a los 57 años luego de batallar contra el cáncer, según confirmó la revista People. Luego, un familiar del actor le comunicó la noticia al medio especializado en cine y televisión Variety y precisó que aún no se sabe si la causa de su muerte está ligada a la enfermedad que padecía.
El actor es muy recordado por haber interpretado a Stanford “Stanny” Blatch en la reconocida serie Sex and the City. Además, se destacó en sus trabajos en otras producciones, como Policías de Nueva York, White Collar y Hawaii Five-0.
Garson dio vida a uno de los personajes más queridos por los fans en Sex and the City: un miembro de la alta sociedad, que conocía todos los secretos de Carrie Bradshaw, la protagonista interpretada por Sarah Jessica Parker, a quien aconsejaba en todo momento.
“La familia de ‘Sex and the City’ ha perdido a uno de los suyos. Nuestro asombroso Willie Garson”, dijo el productor ejecutivo Michael Patrick King en un comunicado. Luego, añadió: “Su espíritu y su dedicación estuvieron presentes todos los días en el rodaje de ‘And Just Like That’. Él estuvo allí, dándonos todo, incluso cuando estaba enfermo. Todos extrañarán sus dones como actor y persona. En este triste y oscuro momento, nos reconforta el recuerdo de su alegría y su luz”.
Asimismo, Cynthia Nixon -Miranda en la serie de HBO- lamentó la pérdida de su amigo en Twitter y expresó un sentido mensaje. “Lo amamos y adoramos trabajar con él. Era infinitamente divertido en la pantalla y en la vida real. Fue una fuente de luz y amistad en el mundo del espectáculo. Siempre fue un profesional”. Y sumó: “Mi corazón está con su hijo, Nathen Garson. Nathen, espero que sepas cuánto te amaba y lo orgulloso que estaba de ser tu papá”.

Su hijo también le dedicó un extenso mensaje en su cuenta de Instagram, junto a unas fotos privadas del actor. “Estoy muy contento de que hayas podido compartir todas tus aventuras conmigo y de que hayas logrado tanto”, escribió el joven, quien describió a su papá como “la persona más dura, divertida e inteligente”. Y añadió: “Es hora de que emprendas tu propia aventura. Siempre estarás conmigo”.
Garson aparece en 27 episodios de la aclamada ficción y participó en las película en 2008 y en 2010. También, aparecerá en la esperada continuación de la historia And Just Like That..., que será un trabajo póstumo del actor.
