La historia de Jake, el border collie enterrado vivo que fue rescatado justo a tiempo

Esta es una historia de supervivencia y amor. Y comienza con un perro enterrado vivo bajo una pila de rocas. Sin embargo, continúa, afortunadamente, con el encuentro con excursionistas que lograron rescatarlo. Ahora, fue adoptado por ellos.
Sucedió en Escocia, cuando Jake, un border collie, fue encontrado en un estado deplorable. Según informó el Daily Star, las heridas eran tan graves que, cuando llegó a la veterinaria, estaba en coma. Incluso, nadie creía que iba a sobrevivir.
“Este fue realmente uno de los peores casos que he experimentado”, aseguró Yvonne Sloss, inspectora de la Sociedad Escocesa para la Prevención de la Crueldad contra los Animales. La mujer, junto a su colega Mark Greener, acudió al lugar luego de recibir el llamado. Inmediatamente trasladaron a Jack a Glasgow para que recibiera ayuda especializada.
“Cuando vi a Jake por primera vez, sentí conmoción, tristeza e incredulidad de que alguien le hubiera hecho esto deliberadamente. Su cabeza estaba tan hinchada y de una manera terrible. No pensamos que podía sobrevivir, porque estaba en un estado comatoso cuando llegamos al veterinario”, admitió Sloss.
Pero, “milagrosamente”, la mascota logró sobrevivir. Sus heridas eran tan graves que debió permanecer durante semanas en tratamiento. El perro debió ser sometido a que le quitaran los dientes rotos y un ojo. A su vez, fue tratado por fracturas de cráneo y mandíbula.
Una nueva vida
Luego de seis semanas, el perro fue adoptado por Mark, uno de los inspectores que lo había rescatado. “Cuando Jake llegó a casa conmigo todavía estaba increíblemente frágil. Sus fracturas no se habían curado por completo y no podía cerrar la mandíbula”, recordó el hombre.
A su vez, contó que a la mascota le tomó tiempo recuperarse, sanar y confiar en su nuevo dueño. “Pero ahora que lo hace, estamos unidos para siempre. Estoy seguro de que su experiencia aún permanece con él y siempre lo estará, pero ahora que está conmigo, estamos haciendo todo lo posible para que todo sea un recuerdo lejano”, afirmó Mark.
El inspector sostuvo que suele jugar con Jake en el jardín. “No puedo imaginar mi vida sin él”, completó.
