Escándalo en Italia: cinco diputados recibieron un "bonus Covid"
ROMA.- El cobro por cinco diputados italianos de las denominadas ayudas "Bonus Covid", de 600 euros mensuales (707 dólares), destinado a paliar la situación de personas con grandes dificultades financieras, suscitó hoy una polvareda en Italia.
Las indiscreciones parlamentarias, reveladas ayer por el diario La Repubblica y retomadas el lunes por el resto de la prensa italiana, tildan a cinco diputados de "ladrones" anónimos, que procederían de las filas de la Liga (extrema derecha), del Movimiento Cinco Estrellas (en el poder) y del partido Italia Viva (disidente del Partido Demócrata).
Los diarios aseguran asimismo que unos 2000 responsables políticos, entre ellos alcaldes y asesores comunales o regionales, también habrían recibido dichas ayudas.
Esta ayuda, que ascendía a 600 euros para los meses de marzo y abril y a 1000 euros para mayo, estaba dirigida por ejemplo, para las actividades sometidas al IVA, a los trabajadores independientes y a los temporeros afectados por la pandemia de coronavirus.
Las verificaciones sobre los solicitantes realizadas por un organismo antifraude gubernamental concluyeron que cinco diputados se habrían beneficiado de una ayuda de 600 euros, según la prensa italiana. En total, se han distribuido 6900 millones de euros (unos 8200 millones de dólares) de "Bonus Covid" durante estos tres meses.

"Es vergonzoso, realmente indecente", reaccionó el ministro italiano de Relaciones Exteriores Luigi di Maio (Movimiento Cinco Estrellas) en las redes sociales. "Deben disculparse ante los italianos, devolver la ayuda y dimitir", aseguró, al igual que el presidente de la Cámara de Diputados, Roberto Fico, de la misma formación.
"Independientemente de quienes sean, deben ser suspendidos inmediatamente", dijo el jefe de la Liga, Matteo Salvini.
El partido Italia Viva aseguró por su parte que ninguno de sus diputados había solicitado dicha ayuda.
Los diputados italianos ganan cerca de 13.000 euros netos mensuales, entre salario (más de 5000 euros), reembolsos de gastos y empleo de los colaboradores.
