Con sus memorias Cuchillo: meditaciones después de un intento de asesinato, Salman Rushdie quedó entre los diez semifinalistas del National Book Award, uno de los premios literarios más importantes de Estados Unidos. El libro autobiográfico del autor de Los versos satánicos, donde narra el brutal ataque que sufrió el 12 de agosto de 2022 mientras brindaba una conferencia en el norte del estado de Nueva York, integra la long list en la categoría de no ficción.
En Poesía, una de las semifinalistas es Anne Carson con el libro Wrong Norma. En tanto, en la categoría de libros traducidos al inglés quedaron la uruguaya Fernanda Trías con Pink Slime y el colombiano Fernando Vallejo con El abismo.
Los nombres de los autores que pasan a la “lista corta” se anuncian el 1 de octubre y los ganadores de los cinco rubros (ficción, no ficción, poesía, literatura juvenil y traducción al inglés), el 20 de noviembre.
