Wall street cae más de 1% ante creciente tensión en ucrania

17 feb (Reuters) - Los principales índices de Wall Street bajaban más del 1% el jueves, ya que la escalada de tensión entre Occidente y Rusia por Ucrania inquietaba a los inversores, y algunos resultados decepcionantes también pesaron en la confianza.
* Los principales sectores del S&P caían en las operaciones antes del mediodía en Nueva York, siendo las acciones financieras y tecnológicas las más golpeadas con pérdidas de casi el 2%.
* Rusia expulsó al embajador adjunto de Estados Unidos, Bartle Gorman, y advirtió sobre una respuesta de Estados Unidos en medio de los crecientes temores de una invasión rusa sobre Ucrania.
* Mientras, el presidente de Estados Unidos, Joe Biden, dijo que la amenaza de una invasión es "muy alta". Los rebeldes respaldados por Rusia y las fuerzas ucranianas intercambiaron disparos en un frente que los divide, en lo que funcionarios occidentales describieron como un posible pretexto creado por Moscú para invadir.
* A las 1656 GMT, el Promedio Industrial Dow Jones caía un 1,22%, a 34.506 unidades, mientras que el S&P 500 bajaba un 1,4%, a 4.411,99 unidades, El Nasdaq Composite cedía un 1,6%, a 13.897 unidades.
* Las acciones del fabricante de chips Nvidia se desplomaban un 6,7% debido a que márgenes brutos planos y la preocupación por su exposición al mercado de las criptomonedas eclipsaron el pronóstico optimista de ingresos del trimestre actual.
* Los papeles de los grandes bancos, incluidos JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley y Bank of America, perdían entre un 2% y un 3,3%, mientras que los de Goldman Sachs descendían un 2,3% a pesar de mejorar su objetivo clave de rentabilidad.
* Los mercados se han concentrado esta semana en las tensiones geopolíticas, que se sumaron a las preocupaciones sobre los planes de endurecimiento monetario de la Reserva Federal para este año. Las pérdidas en lo que va del jueves ponen al Dow en camino a terminar la semana en territorio negativo.
