Una Australia en inferioridad numérica derrota a Inglaterra en Perth
Australia, que jugó todo el segundo tiempo en inferioridad numérica, con catorce jugadores, derrotó este sábado en Perth, con un apretado marcador, a Inglaterra (30-28), que había ganado los ocho partidos anteriores a los Wallabies, en el primero de los tres test-matches previstos entre ambos equipos.
Los australianos, que también se vieron privados de su apertura Quade Cooper, baja de última hora debido a una lesión, se tomaron revancha de esta forma de su serie de tres derrotas sufridas en su gira otoñal en Europa, contra Escocia (15-13), Inglaterra (32-15) y Gales (29-28).
Australia sufrió la expulsión en el minuto 34 del segunda línea Darcy Swain, tras un cabezazo al inglés Jonny Hill, que vio una tarjeta amarilla.
Tras ese incidente, los equipos llegaron empatados (6-6) al descanso.
Pero en el segundo período, tras un try del XV de la Rosa, en el minuto 49, de su pilar Ellis Genge, los Wallabies replicaron con dos tries, en el minuto 64 por medio del wing Jordan Petaia y en el 69 con el hooker Folau Fainga'a (23-14).
Los hombres de Eddie Jones parecían completamente superados, sobre todo con un nuevo try australiano, anotado por el fullback Pete Samu en el minuto 78.
Con un marcador en contra de 30-21, Inglaterra pudo lograr un último try, en el descuento, por medio de Henry Arundell, y reducir la desventaja, pero era muy tarde.
