LEÓPOLIS, Ucrania -- Las fuerzas rusas entran en la ciudad de Slavutych y toman un hospital, dice el gobernador de la región de Kiev.
Slavutych está situada al norte de Kiev y al oeste de Chernígov, fuera de la zona de exclusión establecida en torno a la central nuclear de Chernóbil tras el desastre de 1986. Allí residen los trabajadores que trabajan en la planta nuclear.
El gobernador, Oleksandr Pavlyuk, denunció también el sábado que las fuerzas rusas habían secuestrado al alcalde de la localidad, pero algunos medios reportaron más tarde que había sido liberado rápidamente. Ninguna de las dos afirmaciones pudo verificarse de forma independiente.
Según el gobernador, los residentes de Slavutych salieron a la calle con banderas ucranianas para protestar contra la invasión rusa.
“Los rusos dispararon al aire. Lanzaron granadas aturdidoras a la multitud. Pero los residentes no se dispersaron, al contrario, aparecieron más”, dijo Pavlyuk.

LEÓPOLIS, Ucrania — Las autoridades de la capital de Ucrania, Kiev, anuncian un nuevo toque de queda de 35 horas en la ciudad.
El alcalde, Vitali Klitschko, explicó que las restricciones estarán en vigor desde las 20:00 horas del sábado a las 07:00 del lunes, y los residentes solo podrán salir de sus casas para ir a los refugios antibombas.
Klitschko apuntó que ni las tiendas, las farmacias y las gasolineras, ni el transporte público estarán operativos durante este tiempo.

LONDRES — Rusia mantiene el asedio sobre algunas de las ciudades más importantes de Ucrania, incluyendo Járkiv, Chernígov y Mariúpol, según el Ministerio de Defensa de Gran Bretaña.
En su actualización diaria, el departamento señaló el sábado que las fuerzas rusas se muestran reacias a las operaciones de infantería urbana a gran escala, y prefieren confiar en el uso indiscriminado de bombardeos aéreos y ataques con artillería en un intento de desmoralizar a las fuerzas de defensa.
Las autoridades británicas apuntaron que es probable que Rusia siga empleando su armamento pesado sobre zonas urbanas para tratar de limitar sus considerables bajas a costa de causar más víctimas civiles.

DOHA, Qatar — El presidente de Ucrania, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, participa por sorpresa a través de videoconferencia en el Foro de Doha, en Qatar.
En su intervención el sábado, Zelenskyy criticó la guerra de Rusia contra su país, pidió a Naciones Unidas y a las potencias mundiales que acudan en su ayuda y comparó la destrucción causada por las fuerzas del Kremlin en la ciudad portuaria de Mariúpol con la causada por Damasco y Moscú en Aleppo durante la guerra en Siria.
“Están destruyendo nuestros puertos", afirmó Zelenskyy. “La ausencia de exportaciones de Ucrania será un revés para países en todo el mundo".
“El futuro de Europa depende de sus esfuerzos", añadió pidiendo a los países que aumenten sus exportaciones de energía, algo especialmente importante ya que Qatar en un líder mundial en exportación de gas natural.
El mandatario criticó además a Rusia por lo que describió como una amenaza global con sus armas nucleares.

Las fuerzas rusas en Ucrania parecen haber cambiado su objetivo de una ofensiva terrestre dirigida a Kiev a priorizar lo que Moscú llama la liberación de la disputada región del Donbás, lo que sugiere que la guerra entra en una nueva fase.
Parece demasiado pronto para decir su esto supone que el presidente Vladimir Putin ha reducido sus ambiciones en Ucrania, pero los movimientos del ejército ruso esta semana indican el reconocimiento de la sorpresivamente estoica resistencia ucraniana. Los separatistas prorrusos controlan parte del Donbás, en el este de Ucrania, desde 2014.
El presidente de Ucrania, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, pidió de nuevo el viernes a Rusia que negocie el final de la guerra, pero apuntó que Kiev no aceptará ceder parte de su territorio en favor de la paz.
Las fuerzas de Putin están bajo una gran presión en muchas partes del país y Estados Unidos y otras naciones están acelerando su envíos de armas y suministros a Ucrania. En los últimos días, funcionarios estadounidenses han dicho que ven indicios de ofensivas limitadas de las fuerzas ucranianas en algunas zonas.
Por su parte, el subjefe del Estado Mayor ruso apuntó que sus fuerzas han logrado en gran medida los “principales objetivos” de la primera fase de lo que Moscú califica de “operación militar especial” en Ucrania.
